Event to Prevent event 2009 event 2008 Each year The Candie’s Foundation hosts the Event to Prevent to raise awareness about teen pregnancy in the United States. The event brings together leaders in the media, entertainment, business, and political worlds. The event raises money to support teen pregnancy prevention activities, and honors individuals who have done exceptional work for the cause and helped advance the Foundation’s message.

Past honorees have included Senator Hillary Clinton, Katie Couric, Paula Zahn, Governor Thomas Kean, Jane Fonda, and Kim Catrall. Past performers have included Jackson Browne, Jennifer Hudson, Lionel Richie, Teddy Geiger, Jewel, Ashlee Simpson, and Destiny’s Child.

In 2009, The Candie’s Foundation held an Event to Prevent Town Hall Meeting with Bristol Palin, ABC’s Chris Cuomo, actress Hayden Panettiere, Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen magazine Ann Shoket, MLB player Matt Garza, and Sarah Brown of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unintended Pregnancy. The event generated more than 700 million media impressions and created a national dialogue about the teen pregnancy epidemic.
